How Grief Can Lead To Spiritual Growth:

Grief is the sad echo of a void caused by an unhappy circumstance. Grief is usually a fallout of losing someone or something very dear to us. Certainly, grief is a dark emotion. It leaves us shaken, confused and we hit a dark emotional wall. We feel trapped and consigned to an unhappy life.

The confusion caused by grief, can leave us with various emotional and mental reactions. From shock and anger, to pain and guilt. In some cases it can also cause depression. Sleep can be one extreme or the other, too much or too little.

Grief and all the resultant emotions mentioned above obviously affect the physical body as well. Loss of appetite, aches and pains are the most common symptoms.

However, the spiritual aspirant who takes an inventory of the situation and himself, realizes that he or she is on an important decision fork. Only the intuitive wise choice will help spiritually evolve.

One road on the fork leads to self pity and self destruction, the other to spiritual progress. The right choice needs to be made.

As the dark cloud of grief lifts, the spiritual student must accept some harsh realities.
1. Nothing is permanent.
2. Attachment will lead to pain.
3. People or things lost, will never return.
4. Everything on this planet has a lifespan. Including relationships.

The spiritual aspirant, realizes the loss of:
1. Time
2. Emotional calm
3. Mental peace.

Also, the realization that people only show sympathy…
No one can share the pain of grief.

An inner awakening makes the spiritual warrior realize:
1. I am alone.
2. Some day I will leave behind my loved ones and my possessions.
3. The lesser I am attached to material things and relationships, lesser are the chances to fall prey to grief again.
At this point if the spiritual warrior takes the spiritual road on the fork, the magic happens!
