Astral projection or Astral travel is an intentional out of body experience. In this esoteric phenomenon, the Astral body temporarily projects out of the physical body to make a journey. It then returns back to the physical body and takes it’s original place.
It must be remembered that the Astral body is always connected to the physical body even when it is travelling.
The best example would be the remote of a television. Even when it is not in use, the remote is connected to the television.

The main distinction between a dream and Astral projection is that the latter is intentional.
